Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC Completes Transparent Evaluation of Recruitment Process

Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC has successfully completed a comprehensive evaluation of its recruitment process for entry-level officers hired since 2021. The evaluation, conducted impartially by the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Dhaka, was a response to audit observations that proper recruitment procedures had not been followed during that period.

A total of 1,414 officers participated in the quality assessment test, and 864 officers passed and were regularized, while 547 officers did not meet the required benchmark and have been separated from service in accordance with the Bank’s Employee Service Rules, relevant laws, and the Bangladesh Labour Law.

The bank's commitment to good governance, transparency, and building a merit-based, professionally sound workforce aligned with Islamic Shariah principles is evident in this rigorous manpower assessment. The clean-up of improperly recruited officers and the formal regularization of qualified staff support a more sustainable, customer-centric Islamic banking system and help maintain continuity in administration and governance.

The bank has settled all financial dues and entitlements of the separated officers in full compliance with legal provisions. The 864 officers who have been fully regularised are currently serving the bank with dedication and professionalism.

The bank considers the misuse of a lawful, fair, and necessary organisational step to spread misinformation and create instability as unacceptable. Regrettably, the bank's head office has been forcibly closed by a section of protesters, preventing employees from entering and halting regular banking operations.

The involvement of external influences in the disruption is unlawful, regrettable, and against the interest of the sector and the nation. Some former officers and external vested interest groups are attempting to create unrest by exploiting the lawful and transparent HR process. However, the bank remains committed to upholding its values and maintaining a merit-based and compliant recruitment system.
