Awards Ceremony 2023 Recognizes Businesses and Personnel

Let's celebrate the champions of eco-friendly business

The Responsible Business & Leadership Excellence Awards kicked off another successful year, honoring exceptional businesses and leaders who are leading the charge in sustainable business practices. The theme for this year: 'Going Green is the Road to Riches', attracted a massive influx of entries from businesses spanning multiple sectors.

The event acknowledges the significance of eco-friendly business practices in driving sustainable growth and value creation for all stakeholders. This year's winners demonstrate that embracing sustainability isn't just the right move, but a critical strategic decision for long-term success. By integrating environmental concerns into their operations and decision-making, they are carving out a shared value for employees, customers, suppliers, and society at large.

What truly amazed the judges was the high level of competition and the breadth of industries represented, including Manufacturing, Healthcare, Hospitality, and more. The winners were picked based on their outstanding performance in areas such as environmental sustainability, social responsibility, corporate governance, and ethical leadership. The assessment process carefully considered various aspects such as:

  • A well-defined sustainability strategy and goals
  • Evidence of impact and measurable results
  • Engagement with stakeholders and partnerships for sustainability
  • Innovation and leadership in addressing sustainability challenges

Ghacem Ltd emerged as the overall winner for their remarkable commitment to eco-friendly business practices. This company has set a high standard by promoting sustainable growth through cutting-edge strategies that balance economic growth, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.

The awards ceremony was a celebration of the potency of green businesses in driving positive change and fostering shared value for all stakeholders. The finalists and winners exemplified the remarkable potential of businesses in making significant contributions to society and the environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. John Otumfuo Watson, CEO of Mayfair Estates Ltd stated, "We feel privileged to receive this award and appreciate the recognition of our efforts in embracing sustainable business practices. This award is a testament to our commitment to eco-friendliness, and we hope to inspire others to join us on the path to a greener future."

The awards scheme is dedicated to pushing forward its mission of promoting eco-friendly business and leadership excellence. We are eagerly waiting for the next year's edition where we can celebrate the achievements of businesses and leaders who are making a positive difference in the world. The Responsible Business & Leadership Excellence Awards express gratitude to the participants and judges who made this year's edition a massive success. The winners serve as an inspiration for other businesses and leaders to adopt eco-friendly practices and join us in the journey towards a greener and more prosperous future.

Before the awards ceremony, a two-day summit on eco-friendly business practices and leadership was held. Organized by Ion Africa Business in partnership with Ianmatsun Global Services and the CSR Training Institute, the summit provided business stakeholders with intensive, interactive learning experiences in critical environmental and sustainability areas.

The summit was divided into two parts. The first day focused on integrating SDGs into business strategies, while the second day delved into sustainability reporting and communication.

Professor Wayne Dunn, President of the CSR Training Institute and the facilitator of the two-day summit, expressed, "Business is all about creating value, but often we equate eco-friendliness with charity and philanthropy. It's about creating more value for society and businesses. Attending this summit in search of answers is the wrong approach; instead, we aim to help people ask better questions about organizational sustainability. With the abundance of expertise from various sectors present, we want to ignite unique thinking and inspire people to ask profound questions that will help in creating value for their respective sectors and contribute to the country's development."
