Artists, specifically painters, tend to earn higher remuneration.
**"Score one for the workers, mate!" says Tino Brünning from IG BAU Düsseldorf, as he explains the recent pay increase for painters and varnishers in Wuppertal. The new income bump comes after some brutal wage negotiations, with each hour now earning 19.42 euros – that's an additional 90 euros in a full-time worker's pocket at the end of each month!
Beginning retroactively from April, the Painters' Union has made good on their word, ensuring employees receive the higher payback to that date. But, beware – if you're not earning a tariff wage, the industry minimum wage of 15.55 euros per hour will be your new normal starting July. Apprentices in the field will see an even bigger payday with a 50-euro bonus coming their way from August, courtesy of IG BAU Düsseldorf.
Tino Brünning of IG BAU Wuppertal also hints at further pay increases next summer, spreading cheer among the 350-some workers operating across 76 businesses in the city. According to the employment agency, these figures are the reality of the painting and varnishing scene in Wuppertal.
Alas, the road to these raises certainly wasn't a stroll in the park, what with tough and tense negotiations. The resistance from employers only fueled the unions' determination, ultimately leading to a fruitful outcome. Sadly, attempts at mediation and even arbitration have failed, but the union isn't losing hope and is already eyeing the next pay increase.
The recent wage increase for painters and varnishers in Wuppertal, amounting to an additional 90 euros per month, is a significant victory for workers in the industry, as explained by Tino Brünning from IG BAU Düsseldorf. Consequently, the industry minimum wage for non-tariff workers will rise to 15.55 euros per hour, starting from July.
