Arctos Sports Partners Expands Portfolio with $7 Billion in Sports Assets
Arctos Sports Partners, a leading investor in the sports industry, has significantly increased its assets under management (AUM) to a staggering $7 billion, following its latest investment in Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE).
This latest move has propelled Arctos's sports-related AUM to new heights, with the company now holding stakes in multiple major sports leagues and teams such as the NBA, NHL, MLB, and high-profile international clubs like Paris Saint-Germain.
The $7 billion figure represents the total value of Arctos's sports portfolio, including their recent investment in HBSE and other franchises. The deal, which has been approved by both the NBA and NHL, has contributed to the broader portfolio increase reported with the closing of Arctos Partners Fund II at over $4.1 billion.
Josh Harris and David Blitzer, the leaders of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, have welcomed Arctos as a key partner. The latest investment supports elevated equity ventures and strategic minority stakes related to HBSE.
Arctos's sports-related investments now span at least 20 different teams. Among these are the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Utah Jazz, Real Salt Lake, and Boston Red Sox (through Fenway Sports). Arctos also has a stake in the Tampa Bay Lightning, which it invested in this year, and the Golden State Warriors, where it has previously increased its stake.
The valuation of HBSE itself stands at over $4 billion, with the 76ers valued at $3.21 billion and the Devils at $825 million. Arctos's investment in HBSE came at a higher valuation than the initial one, reflecting the growing value of the sports industry.
Arctos's commitment to the sports industry extends beyond direct investments. The firm is a backer of Elevate Sports Ventures, a data and consulting firm co-founded by HBSE, demonstrating a strategic approach to its investments.
The firm's disclosed assets reached $6.64 billion at the end of 2022, marking a 69% increase from the year prior. This growth underscores Arctos's strategic approach to investing in the sports industry and its commitment to delivering value to its partners and investors.
