The conference, focusing on start-ups, brings together leading tech industry names and entrepreneurs. It features panels, a start-up demo, and an 'Ideathon' for pitching ideas. Nizar Zakka, secretary-general of Arab ICT organization Ijma3, calls for balanced internet security measures that protect personal information. Samih Toukan, founder of Maktoob.com, sees lack of government support as an opportunity for local knowledge to make companies interesting to investors.
Conference founder Omar Christidis describes the event as a meeting place for executives and a platform for launching start-ups. Lebanese Minister of Communications Charbel Nahhas commits to providing physical and technical requirements for internet connectivity and innovation.
