The Main Loop Railway in Seligenstadt, connecting Bamberg, Schweinfurt, Würzburg, and Rottendorf, is set to be reactivated by 2028. Despite a lack of detailed information about the project's timeline, funding sources, and improvements, key developments have been announced.

The Main Loop Railway Infrastructure Company (MIG), established in 2021, is spearheading the project to reactivate the rail connection between Volkach and Würzburg for passenger rail transport. DB InfraGO has taken over the planning for the entire project.

DB has promised to complete all work on the DB track and at Seligenstadt station by 2028, reducing the journey time between Würzburg and Volkach to less than 30 minutes. The federal government will also fund new signals to speed up train times between Seligenstadt and Rottendorf, improving train punctuality and allowing for easy integration of diesel multiple units into denser DB timetables.

The Bavarian Railway Authority (BEG) has included the rail connection between Würzburg and Volkach in its "South Thuringia-Franconia Network" from December 2028. Passengers traveling only between Würzburg and Rottendorf or Seligenstadt will have a half-hourly service instead of the current hourly service from 2028.

The federal government will finance the rebuilding of switch connections at Seligenstadt station. Kitzingen's district administrator Tamara Bischof presented the good news to the municipal shareholders of the Main Loop Railway Infrastructure Company (MIG), which includes the district of Kitzingen, the communal utility company of the district of Würzburg, the town of Volkach, the municipalities of Markt Eisenheim and Prosselsheim, and the support association Main Loop Railway e.V.

Since 2003, the Main Loop Railway e.V. has secured the preservation of the line through tourist trips with its historic railbus. The planning and execution of the Volkach line are now in the hands of MIG, who have had an engineering firm under contract for rail planning. Bischof and Würzburg's district administrator Thomas Eberth expressed confidence that the new Main Loop Railway will operate as planned.

The Volkach Railway is part of the MIG's project to reactivate the rail connection between Volkach and Würzburg. The journey between Würzburg and Rottendorf or Seligenstadt is expected to offer hourly, seamless journeys in the Bavarian rhythm from 2028. The Main Loop Railway is being reactivated with the aim of providing a more efficient and convenient rail service for passengers in the region.

The Main Loop Railway Infrastructure Company (MIG) is working on reactivating the rail connection between Volkach and Würzburg for passenger rail transport, a project that falls under the broader finance and industry domain. DB InfraGO is responsible for the entire project's planning, and DB has committed to completing work on the DB track and Seligenstadt station by 2028, a key development in the transportation sector. The federal government is funding new signals to speed up train times and the rebuilding of switch connections at Seligenstadt station, further indicating the involvement of finance in this project.
