Amazon Launches First US Robotaxi Service in Las Vegas
Amazon has launched its first US robotaxi service in Las Vegas, offering fully driverless rides. Meanwhile, India's startup ecosystem is booming, with Urban Company's IPO raising ₹853.87 crore and Asaya securing ₹28 crore for its skincare line expansion.
Amazon's robotaxis, operated by its self-driving car unit, are now available in Las Vegas. This marks the first US deployment of a fully driverless vehicle.
In India, Urban Company's IPO has attracted global investors, raising ₹853.87 crore on the second day of its ₹1,900 crore offering. The home services provider also reported its first full-year profitability in FY25, with a net profit of ₹135 crore on revenues of ₹1,373.5 crore.
Asaya, a skincare startup focusing on hyperpigmentation, raised ₹28 crore in a pre-Series A round. The funds will be used to grow its product line and enter offline retail chains in Tier 1 cities.
Space DOTS, a satellite monitoring tool developer, raised $1.5 million to tackle the increasing congestion in low-Earth orbit. The company aims to provide orbital monitoring tools for satellites and space assets.
Netskope, a cybersecurity startup, has filed for an IPO, joining Rubrik as one of the few cybersecurity startups preparing to list in 2025. India's startup ecosystem is expected to see more IPOs and AI breakthroughs this year, reshaping markets at home and abroad.
Oracle shares surged 35.95% after announcing multi-billion-dollar AI-related cloud contracts, including a $300 billion deal with OpenAI. Ola Electric, meanwhile, has addressed inventory discrepancies highlighted by its auditor, attributing them to operational transitions during Q4 FY25 restructuring.
The deployment of Amazon's robotaxis in Las Vegas signals a significant step forward for autonomous vehicle technology in the US. In India, Urban Company's successful IPO and Asaya's funding round demonstrate the thriving startup ecosystem, with more IPOs and innovations expected in 2025.
