Alstom Wins €160M Deal With Deutsche Bahn for 38 Modern Diesel Trains
Alstom, a global leader in rail infrastructure, has secured a significant contract worth €160 million with Deutsche Bahn. The deal involves the supply of 38 additional Diesel regional trains, Coradia Lint, to strengthen Germany's Southwest Diesel network. The French company's President, Henri Poupart-Lafarge, hailed the contract as a success for the Coradia Lint and a boost to the partnership with DB Regio.
The new trains, to be manufactured at Alstom's Salzgitter site in Lower Saxony, will offer enhanced safety features with monitoring cameras. They can reach speeds of up to 140 km/h and meet stringent emission standards, with 90% of particle emissions eliminated. Passengers can expect a comfortable journey with air conditioning, a low floor for easy access, wheelchair spaces, suitable toilets, intercom units, and a ramp for platform access.
The order includes 14 train sets with 112 seats and 24 train sets with 160 seats, set to be delivered in 2015. Dr. Rüdiger Grube, Chairman and CEO of Deutsche Bahn, sees this investment as a means to strengthen competitiveness and ensure sustainable business success. Alstom, with sales of €20 billion and orders close to €22 billion in 2011/12, is well-positioned to deliver on this significant contract.
The Coradia Lint trains, equipped with modern features and meeting high safety and emission standards, will enhance the Southwest Diesel network. The partnership between Alstom and Deutsche Bahn continues to flourish, with this contract further cementing their collaboration.
