AlexRenew Unveils RiverRenew Plaza Promenade on October 18
AlexRenew is set to unveil a new promenade at RiverRenew Plaza on October 18. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the completion of a four-year project management process involving a 2.2-mile-long underground tunnel.
The promenade, located at 501 N. Union Street in Old Town, Alexandria, sits atop AlexRenew's RiverRenew project. This initiative aims to protect the Potomac River by diverting raw sewage. The event will take place from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m., with notable speakers including Mayor Alyia Gaskins, AlexRenew Board Chair John Hill, AlexRenew CEO Justin Carl, and Waterfront Commission Chair Louise Roseman. John Hill, who is also involved in the upcoming Pendleton Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, will be present to celebrate this significant milestone.
The new promenade at RiverRenew Plaza is ready to be inaugurated on October 18. This project, four years in the making, is a key step towards improving the Potomac River's water quality. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will bring together local leaders to celebrate this achievement.
