Title: Yakutia Railways at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum: Connecting for Growth
YAKUTIA.INFO - The wheel’s a-turning in the Far East as Yakutia Railways gets down to business at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Transportation is often the wheels that make an economy go, and reliable infrastructure is the grease to keep it running smoothly. Major projects, like the construction of the Suez Canal or space travel, have launched entire industries. But, according to Alexei Mostnikov, Deputy General Director for Strategic Development of JSC "AK Yakutia Railways," it ain’t all about big cash and grandiose schemes.
"We're looking at transport sovereignty, Eurasian partnership, and logistics routes," he shared, adding that these discussions also include creating an international transport corridor linked to the Northern Sea Route and the development of energy complexes. In other words, they’re all about laying the tracks for prosperity.
The focus on investment was palpable, with private investments, like people's bonds, being the preferred funding methods with high key rates. And, in what could be a game-changer, Aisen Nikolaev, the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Yuri Chebotarev, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, discussed the opening of a representative office of JSC "Yakutia Railways" in the Union State. This move will facilitate direct supplies from Belarusian producers to consumers in Yakutia, hopefully, injecting some new life into the economy.
Apart from strategic meetings, representatives of JSC "AK Yakutia Railways" also participated in a session on construction, where they discussed ways to make things happen amidst soaring key rates.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) has been a hotbed of economic discussions since its inception in 2006 under the wing of the Russian President. This year, the forum’s focus is on "Shared Values - The Foundation for Growth in a Multipolar World." Delegates from more than 100 countries and Russian territorial entities will convene from June 18 to 21 to explore growth opportunities and uphold shared values.
