In a bid to enhance public transportation for students in Regensburg, several modifications have been made to the school bus routes, effective from September 16, 2025. These alterations involve adjustments to stop locations, timetables, and the introduction of larger-capacity vehicles on certain lines.

One of the most notable changes is the alteration in the journey at 13:12 from Lappersdorf Gymnasium for Line 142. This journey will no longer serve the stops from Kareth In der Pfeifing to Regendorf Schloss. Instead, the 13:16 Line 17 journey from Lappersdorf Gymnasium towards Pielmühle - Lorenzen - Regendorf will serve as a replacement. On Saturdays, Line 17 at 13:16 in the direction of Pielmuhle - Lorenzen - Regendorf will also stop at the Lappersdorf Gymnasium stop.

To increase capacity, a large-capacity vehicle will be used on Line 5's journey from Regensburg Hbf at 13:00 to Sulzbach Dorfplatz. Similarly, two large-capacity vehicles will run at 13:07 from Neutraubling Realschule via Neutraubling Gymnasium - Barbing - Pfatter and continue to Herfurth Schoenach Hauptstrasse on Line 33.

An additional school bus of the Lappersdorf market will run via Schwaighausen to Oppersdorf South on Line 13. The journey at 14:17 from Hainsacker School on Line 13 will be extended to Oppersdorf South via Schwaighausen.

Intermediate students can use lines 12 and 13 to travel to the gymnasium and switch to line 15 there. A new school bus journey from Grabenhäuser via Sachsenhofen to Schwarzhöfe, connecting to line 109 towards Regenstauf, has been established at 07:06.

Changes to stop names have been made for various routes, including Aufhausen Sparkasse to Aufhausen Triftlfinger Straße, Hemau Krankenhaus to Hemau Wittelsbacherstraße, Hemau Post to Hemau Nürnberger Straße, Geisling Irlbruck to Geisling Am Mühlbach, Geisling Kraftwerkweg to Geisling Am Osterfeld, Geisling Ost to Geisling Hauptstraße 72, and Geisling West to Geisling Hauptstraße 40.

In addition to these changes, some minor schedule adjustments are in effect on routes 23, 24, 26, 28, 36/37, 66, 102, 104, 107, 111, and 112. On Saturdays, journey times on Line 17 will be adjusted according to traffic conditions.

GFN, the local public transport company, transports over 8,000 students daily. These companies cover approximately 9.2 million kilometers per year. During a school day, 24 transport companies with over 350 buses operate in the regional bus traffic.

Students from Baiern Ort will travel on Line 12 at 07:24. An additional journey at 07:22 from Zeitlarn Schule to Gymnasium Lappersdorf has been established for students from Zeitlarn for Line 142. The bus from Rohrdorf to the Lappersdorf Gymnasium on Line 12 will start at 07:02.

The school year in Regensburg begins on September 16, 2025. The bus from Regenstauf Am Grasigen Weg will now depart from Maxhütte-Haidhof Eisenbahnbrücke and go directly to Gymnasium Burglengenfeld for Line 141 at 07:08. The stop Roith bei Wenzenbach is now included in the schedule in the direction of Nittenau for Line 115. The stop Erlbach Herrenholz is now included in the schedule for Line 106. The Saturday bus at 10:00 from Rohrbach to Regenstauf will now depart 1 hour earlier. The bus at 15:30 from Hainsacker Turl [P+R] on Line 13 will also stop at the Hainsacker School stop due to the introduction of open all-day schooling at the Hainsacker primary school.

The bus companies involved in the changes to the regional bus line plans in the Regensburg transport community starting from the school start on September 16, 2025, include RBO GmbH (as the operating company for the VLK tariff lines) and agilis (operating certain regional lines); however, specific details on all involved companies and the total number of buses to be put into operation are not clearly listed in the available sources. Some service improvements mention the use of large-capacity vehicles and additional reinforcement vehicles on certain lines like lines 5, 7, and 8, but an exact total number of buses is not provided in the cited information.

On Line 14, there will be an additional journey option to Regensburg at midday, with journeys departing from Judenberg Fire Station and Schwarzhofe at 11:57 and 11:58 respectively. The stop Dirnberg is now included in the schedule for Line 116. The Saturday bus at 10:00 from Rohrbach to Regenstauf will now depart 1 hour earlier, adjusting the journey times on Line 17 according to traffic conditions on Saturdays.

These changes aim to improve the efficiency and capacity of the school bus services in Regensburg, ensuring a smoother and more convenient journey for students.
