A643 in Mainz-Mombach: Heavy Traffic Exit Closure from Oct 8
The Autobahn GmbH des Bundes has announced a significant change for heavy traffic on the A643 in Mainz-Mombach. From October 8, 2025, the exit ramp from the Schiersteiner Bridge coming from Wiesbaden will be closed for all traffic, affecting vehicles over 3.5 tons. The closure is a result of repeated weight restriction violations and is being implemented to protect the existing autobahn and ensure safety. Vehicles wanting to get from the Mombacher roundabout onto the A643 towards Bingen/Koblenz will need to take a detour of about six kilometers. Traffic from Wiesbaden wanting to exit in Mombach will be redirected via the Mainz-Gonsenheim interchange, approximately two kilometers further on. However, the on-ramp from Mainz to Bingen can remain open for traffic under 3.5 tons due to positive developments. The closure of the exit ramp in Mainz-Mombach is expected to last until further notice. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the detour signs. The Autobahn GmbH des Bundes is committed to maintaining the safety and integrity of the autobahn.
