1,000+ Cornwall Homes to Get Energy Upgrades in £20.7m Scheme
Over 1,000 homes for sale in Cornwall are set to receive energy-saving upgrades, thanks to a £20.7m Home Upgrade grant. The scheme prioritises homes for sale with the lowest energy efficiency ratings, aiming to improve insulation and install solar panels.
Cornwall Council is investing £2.5m into the scheme, with the government contributing £1.76m. The Cornwall Energy Company will carry out the upgrades on 200 homes for sale in Camelford, Millbrook, St Newlyn East, Port Isaac, and Lanivet, with an additional budget of £4.26 million. Meanwhile, an estimated 200 homes for sale managed by Cornwall Housing have been earmarked for upgrades from the same funding pot.
Eligible homeowners or tenants must have an energy performance certificate between band D and G and a household income of less than £31,000. The scheme aims to make homes for sale more energy-efficient and affordable to heat.
The energy-saving upgrades are expected to benefit over 1,000 homes for sale in rural Cornwall, making them warmer, cheaper to run, and more environmentally friendly. The scheme is a joint effort between Cornwall Council and the government, with the Cornwall Energy Company carrying out the upgrades.
